S2504: Psychopathy in Splash Spring 17 (Apr. 08, 2017)
A view into the minds of famous serial killers and psychopaths such as Jeffrey Dahmer and Ted Bundy and a discussion on the biology behind their abnormal thought processes. Relevant research on the possible causes of psychopathy will be reviewed as well as proposed treatments. Unique characteristics of psychopaths will be analyzed as well as childhood warning signs in specific cases. The class will debate possible solutions and cures for psychopathy and propose methods the government should take to protect society from serial killers. Contains material some may find disturbing.


S2505: Visual Perception in Splash Spring 17 (Apr. 08, 2017)
How much of what we see is actually there? What is real vs. what is our mind falsely perceiving? Optical illusions and deceiving images will be shown and the biological reasoning behind their perception will be analyzed. The theory that color exists only in our minds and not in the real world will be supported through deceptive pictures. The unreliability/ selectiveness of vision will also be discussed along with specific psychologists’ findings and views on the matter of visual perception.
