In our hectic lives, it’s no surprise to spend most of our time and energy focusing on the “big moments,” whether this be an upcoming exam or an important competition. Through triumphs and disappointments, how much of life goes unobserved? Perhaps it’s the unique shadows casted by scattered pebbles on the street, the reflection of clouds in a rain puddle, or the way fabric crinkles from a tight embrace. In this course, we will use photography as a medium to explore what it means to be present, as well as photography as a discipline—its special ability to capture and convey ideas and emotions that can’t necessarily be expressed through words.
