Brief Biographical Sketch:
Hi! My name is Emma and I'm a second year Yale College student in Ezra Stiles. After working in the House of Representatives this past summer, I've come to appreciate the legislative process and policy work, and hope to get y'all excited about it too! In this course, you will explore the power of the U.S. Congress and the unique structure that guides its actions. Through engaging activities, debates, and simulations, you will learn about the scope and limits of congressional authority, how this power has changed over time, and the crucial differences between the House of Representatives and the Senate. By the end of the course, you will have a deeper understanding of how laws are made, the challenges Congress faces, and the impact these processes have on our democracy.

Are you interested in ancient civilizations? Ever wanted to explore one of the oldest forms of writing in the world? In this class, you will learn the basics of the Egyptian language through different hieroglyphic signs. We will go over the most basic signs and phrases along with their corresponding sounds, transliterations, and translations.
