Brief Biographical Sketch:

Debie Blair is a trained food scientist currently earning her MBA at the Yale School of Management. She graduated from Penn State University with her Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees in Food Science and worked for eleven years in the food industry. Debie has experience in Product Development, Innovation, Quality, Productivity, and Specifications, having worked for companies such as Mondelez International, The Nature’s Bounty, and PepsiCo. She developed multiple line extensions under the OREO brand and belVita brand, including Red Velvet OREO, Fireworks OREO, and Blueberry Bites belVita. Debie was also an adjunct professor of Nutrition and Food Studies at Montclair State University, and she looks forward to continuing her mission of educating the public about food through a non-profit she is developing while in business school.

What are calories, vitamins, macronutrients? What do the phrases mean on product packaging? Which is the best product out of the multitude of options at the grocery store based on an individual’s goals? As a food scientist and former professor, Debie Blair has spent the last decade making snacks like OREO, belVita biscuits, protein bars, and energy drinks for the general public. This course aims to expand the knowledge base of everyone on the many options of foods in the grocery stores, both “natural” and “processed”. The more we know about what’s going into our bodies, the better choices we can make and the healthier we can be as individuals and as a society. Come learn about The Food We Eat!
