Brief Biographical Sketch:
Devon is a sophomore majoring in Music and Ethics, Politics, and Economics, with a concentration in economic development and welfare. A finalist for the John Thouron Prize, Devon has served as an officer of the Yale Political Union, a chair at Yale Model Congress, a staff blogger for Amicus, the Yale Undergraduate Law Review, and a contributor to the Yale Philosophy Review. He has also organized for two political campaigns in New Haven, and has recently worked with other Yale students to develop an educational productivity application to streamline and synthesize the process of writing extended research projects at the college and graduate levels. An avid lover of classical music, Devon plays cello in the Yale Symphony Orchestra and in Low Strung, an all-cello rock group of which he is the Music Director. This course will explore themes in the discoveries of well-known paradoxes drawn from such fields as economics, mathematics, political science, philosophy, and physics, and how responses to them have influenced further developments in those fields.
