## Brief Biographical Sketch:

My name is Derek Tsang, and I was born in Flushing, New York. I lived in Scranton, Pennsylvania (yes, from The Office), for 14 years, and now I live in upstate New York. In high school, I was very interested in mathematics and chemistry. At Yale, I plan on being pre-med, and my tentative major is Molecular Biophysics and Biochemistry. Some of my hobbies include tennis, piano, and violin. I am also a huge Houston Rockets and Manchester City fan!

Carl Friedrich Gauss, one of the greatest mathematicians in history, once said, "Mathematics is the queen of the sciencesâ€”and number theory is the queen of mathematics." In this class, we hope to give you a glimpse into the fascinating field of number theory.
