Brief Biographical Sketch:

Anna Aller was born in Cebu, Philippines. So far, she has lived in Cebu, Las Vegas, and Los Angeles. She loves animals of all kinds, thus explaining her Sprout course topic. She is considering majoring in educational studies, environmental studies, and/or global affairs. Enthusiastically, she pushes through all her challenging Yale courses and time-consuming assignments and extra-curriculars. So, she can't wait to take a break by teaching the youth a few of her passions!

H3695: Rhino Poaching Crisis in Splash Spring 19 (Apr. 06, 2019)
Say rhiNO to poaching! You will learn basic facts about the Rhinoceros, but then most of it will focus on rhino poaching. We will expand on the why and how of the poaching crisis and will also analyze the different solutions of Rhino Poaching. Cute pictures of rhinos will arise, but also disheartening ones. So be ready to experience a roller coaster of emotions! It will be taught by a student who conducted research on Rhinos in South Africa.


E3520: The Rhino Poaching Crisis! in Sprout Spring 19 (Feb. 16 - Mar. 02, 2019)
How and why are the rhinoceros species decreasing worldwide? Not only will students learn foundational facts about the giant animal but they will also learn why poaching occurs. Current solutions and conservation initatives will be described, as well as misconceptions regarding the crisis. Students will become rhino experts by the end of the class, able to confidently proclaim "rhiNO to poaching!" The class will be taught by a first-year Yalie who conducted research on dehorned rhinos in a South African rhino reserve.
