H1606: The Poetry of E. E. Cummings in Splash Summer 15 (Jul. 25 - 26, 2015)
We will be discussing Cummings' poem "One's not half two, it's two are halves of one." In doing so, we will examine how Cummings makes use of (and subverts) traditional poetic form, as well as his distinct and innovative approach to poetry.


S1151: Close Reading Poetry- Whitman and Cummings in Sprout Summer 2014 (Jul. 12 - Aug. 02, 2014)
This course will focus on the close reading of two poems: Walt Whitman's "Youth, Day, Old Age and Night," and E. E. Cummings' "old age sticks." We will also discuss some basic poetry terminology and common poetic structures. Student participation will be highly encouraged, though not mandatory.
