Brief Biographical Sketch:

Annemarie McDaniel is a sophomore at Yale University and girls’ rights activist. She currently works for an organization called SPARK Movement, which works to create better images of girls and women in the media. Within the past year, Annemarie has partnered with a number of groups such as Seventeen Magazine, the United Nation’s 57th Commission on the Status of Women, and National Eating Disorder Association to promote the positive representations of girls.

Ever see something in the news or every day life that you thought was unfair, but didn't know what to do about it? Have you pretended to interview yourself with a hairbrush as a microphone? This class will cover the basics of how to find an issue you are passionate about, brainstorm ways you could improve a problem in it, and create change through media (like writing a blog post, talking to organizations, creating a petition, or conducting an interview!).
