Brief Biographical Sketch:
I am an Eagle Scout with five palms and a member of the Order of the Arrow. I began Scouting in 5th grade, and since then have hiked hundreds of miles and camped on countless overnights. In 2012 I traveled to Philmont Scout Ranch in the New Mexico desert, where my crew and I backpacked 105 miles in ten days and summited a 12.5k foot peak. I have found knot-tying to be a very useful skill in every situation, whether in the backcountry or a dorm room. You will learn a few basic knots including the square knot, sheet bend, tautline hitch and two half-hitches as well as potential applications in pioneering. If possible, we may also venture into one-handed and blindfolded knot-tying.
