Brief Biographical Sketch:

Hi! My name is Katie, and I'm a sophomore Yale student from Connecticut. I'm very interested in the environment and conservation, particularly in regards to coastal zones, and am majoring in Environmental Studies. On campus, I'm involved with a few environmental organizations and with Silliman College. I hope to meet you soon at one of the Splash or Sprout sessions!

Interested in energy & the environment? Looking for a fun class with lots of activities, trivia, and cool content? Join Yale's undergraduate solar energy group Project Bright as we learn about all of that and more!


Youth Environmentalism Series!!! in Sprout Fall 18 (Sep. 29 - Oct. 13, 2018)
Interested in the environment? Like the outdoors? Enroll in this core class lecture series on environmentalism to learn more about what Yale's environmental groups are pursuing, and how they are pursuing it. You'll have different teachers and new activities each week--Fossil Free Yale (FFY) will teach on fossil fuel divestment and standing up to large, powerful institutions with organized resistance; Project Bright will have some fun activities surrounding solar energy and renewables; and the third day will be an environmental "mixed bag". We can't wait!


That's On My Food?! in Splash Spring 18 (Apr. 07, 2018)
Aspartame? Butylated hydroxyanisole? tert-Butylhydroquinone? We're going to explore all types of "mysterious" ingredients and pesticides in and on our food nowadays, how they affect our bodies and our environment, and where the global food system is headed from here. We will check out an app called Buycott, hold debates on how consumers should respond to the controversy over conventionally versus organically grown produce, discuss regulations on pesticides, and even get to perform our own test on the crazy amount of pesticides on a few pieces of produce!
