M3213: Adventures with Networks in Splash Spring 18 (Apr. 07, 2018)
Come learn about graphs -- and not the y=f(x) kind! Graphs, also sometimes called networks, are an incredibly diverse and exciting mathematical structure, with myriad applications in data analysis, modeling, and even Google’s search algorithm. We’ll talk about basic concepts and results in graph theory, and then move on to more advanced topics, possibly including random walks, network algorithms, and even a hint of spectral graph theory. (And, if you need any more incentive, there will be snacks!)

M2955: Puzzles, Prisoners, Paradoxes, and Pretzels in Splash Fall 17 (Nov. 11, 2017)
Try your hand at logic puzzles, prisoner-freeing puzzles, mathematical paradoxes, lateral thinking problems, and everything in between! While you’re at it, snack on some pretzels, which will be supplemented with Nutella and other pretzel-friendly foods.

M2354: Extreme Counting in Splash Fall 16 (Nov. 05, 2016)
Did you learn to count in elementary school? Ready to take your counting skills to the next level? Then join us for a whirlwind tour of introductory combinatorics! We’ll briefly touch on the basics of combinations and counting, discussing a few classic inductive and combinatorial proofs along the way, before moving on to more exciting and challenging problems. Topics may include, but are certainly not limited to: the binomial theorem, the inclusion-exclusion principle, generating functions, everyone’s favorite recurrence relation (Fibonacci!), and if we’re lucky, even Catalan numbers!

X2076: Puzzles, Paradoxes, and Pretzels in Splash Spring 16 (Apr. 02, 2016)
Try your hand at logic puzzles, mathematical paradoxes, lateral thinking problems, and everything in between! While you’re at it, nosh on some pretzels, which will be supplemented with Nutella and various other pretzel-friendly snacks.

X2080: Origami! in Splash Spring 16 (Apr. 02, 2016)
What do stars, bouquets of flowers, cranes, and boxes all have in common? (Hint: see class title.) Come fold cool (possibly modular!) origami, and impress your friends with your new creations!
