Brief Biographical Sketch:

My name is Adrianne Owings, and I'm originally from Little Rock, Arkansas. At Yale, I'm in my junior year, and I'm double majoring in Theater Studies and Film Studies. I am also the co-President and co-founder of Girl Up Yale, a club that supports the United Nations Foundation Girl Up campaign that seeks to empower adolescent girls around the world. In 2015-2016, I was a Teen Advisor for the campaign, which meant I was one of twenty girls selected to represent the campaign nationally and offer feedback on behalf of club leaders internationally to campaign staff. Outside of Girl Up, I'm in an a cappella group, write for a political publication on campus, perform in student theater shows, and am a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority. I'm passionate about human rights advocacy, especially women's rights, and I'm so excited to talk about Girl Up with New Haven students!
